There is more to mental illness than meets the eye

Nowadays, the term “mental illness” is tossed around and used casually, as if it means nothing. The truth is mental illness is a serious disorder that has claimed the lives of many. One cannot ignore the fact (and truth) that human beings are tripartite — which means consisting of three distinct components. We are spirit, soul, and body; in that order. The problem is that secular doctors, scientists, and psychologists frequently ignore the spiritual component of mental illness in favour of examining it solely from a scientific perspective. We are spiritual beings first before we are merely physical beings. Therefore, to fully comprehend mental illness, we also need to comprehend the nature or the composition of human beings from a spiritual standpoint

THE MAKEUP OF HUMANKIND
1. The spirit
The spirit refers to who you are, the innermost part of your being, the centre of you, the source of your identity. The heart, conscience, and intuition comprise the human spirit.
The heart is the essence of who you are. The conscience is the inner feeling or inner voice that distinguishes between right and wrong. Intuition is sometimes described as "gut feeling" or instinctive knowledge. It is the ability to know something intuitively without using conscious reasoning.

2. The soul:
The soul is the realm of decision. Your mind, will, emotions, and personality are all housed within your soul. (Yes, your personality is indeed embedded in your soul.) The mind is what you imagine and remember. The will is what you desire and your emotions are what you feel. Personality refers to the acquisition of traits or qualities that make up a person's unique character.

3. The body:
Your "earth suit" and point of contact with the physical world is your body. The vehicle through which you encounter the natural world is your body. Every interaction you have with others is done through your body. You communicate, see, hear, smell, and touch the world around you through your body. Simply put, humans are spirits with souls who reside in bodies.
