The Quest For Perfection: Rejection Stings

A man leaning his head against the wall in a state of disarray and rejection.

It should come as no surprise that rejection is the most prevalent and possibly the deepest wound (second only to bereavement in terms of depth) that human hearts experience and sadly, it is inevitable. Rejection is an experience of feeling unwanted, excluded, unloved, worthless, alienated, and distressed in spirit. In other words, an acme of emotions and heartache accompanies being rejected. Rejection, therefore, has an impact on both the spirit and the soul. Let's look at the various forms of rejection.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF REJECTION
1.  Silent rejection
The practise of being silent and distant toward another person, especially to express contempt or disapproval.
2.  Oblivious rejection
The act of rejecting someone or others on misguided and uninformed grounds.
3.   Stratum rejection
The act of rejecting others based on their socioeconomic status.
4.  Romantic or marital rejection
Rejection from your spouse or romantic partner.
5.  Peer rejection
Being rejected by your peers. Both children and adults utilise this behaviour to exclude and intentionally harm one another.
6.  Family rejection
Being rejected by family members, for example, parents, siblings, cousins, or relatives. Different manifestations of this include neglect, abandonment, and lack of affection.
7.  Social rejection
The deliberate exclusion of a person from a social relationship or interactions with other people. People typically experience this kind of rejection quite early in life. It can include everything from bullying of various types to school exclusion.

OVERCOMING REJECTION
Step 1
To overcome rejection or sentiments of rejection, one must first recognise that they are afflicted by rejection. A person cannot overcome rejection until they first admit to themselves that they have a problem.
Step 2
Following that, one must seek complete healing and freedom from this phenomenon. Deliverance must take place. Let go of the pain and forgive those who have hurt you.
Step 3
Maintain your deliverance by thinking positive thoughts and surrounding yourself with supportive people. There is power in positive thinking.
