The Agenda Of Pronouns

Who would’ve thought that in 2023, pronouns would be such a hot topic? I mean, the subject pronoun "we" nowadays refers to one person who identifies as two people. I know, confusing, right?! Apparently it’s not. In case you missed it, today, children as young as six are changing their pronouns from he to she and vice versa. Tragically, it doesn’t end there. There’s now a new personal pronoun, "shim".

These days, “shim” can refer to a person who identifies as bisexual, transgender, gender fluid, or genderqueer. The object pronoun "us" is now also used to describe one person with multiple identities. For instance, "he", "she", "we", and "shim" are now used to describe an individual. What’s next? I suppose people will soon identify as not having a gender or a pronoun. Oh, wait! Yes, that’s right. Non-binary!

How, then, can teachers instil a secure and stable sense of sexual identity at school?

1. Initiate early, consistent, age-appropriate sex education in the classroom.

2. Teach children the truth about gender and transgender identity.

3. Teach children from an early age that their human bodies are sacred and worthy of respect and protection.

4. Guide children in celebrating their individual masculine or feminine characteristics.

5. Learn more about this topic from reliable sources, and encourage pupils to ask you any questions.
