Poetry: Identity Eludes

Artwork: A portrait of a South African woman.
In the depths of a fragmented mind,
where realities intertwine,
a kaleidoscope of thoughts unwind.

Who am I in this swirling abyss?
A puzzle with pieces that don't quite fit.
A shattered mirror reflecting a distorted bliss,
a dance of shadows in the endless mist.

I wear masks of countless hues,
Trying to find myself—
a chameleon in a world that confuses.
Shifting personas, each one a ruse,
Lost in the maze where sanity diffuses.

Am I the madman who laughs with glee,
or the silent observer, longing to be free?
Am I the monster lurking in the dark,
or the fragile soul yearning for a spark?

Identity eludes, slipping through my grasp,
like sand in an hourglass, moments collapse.
A fractured self, a never-ending gasp,
In this delirium, where truth perhaps, perhaps…

Who am I in this twisted rhymes,
A symphony of chaos, a play of mimes,
A glimpse into the depths of fractured minds,
A lost soul, where identity unwinds.
