Business English, Conversational English, Academic English — What’s The Difference?


Business English:
A professional form of English used in the workplace and business dealings for communication between colleagues or clients. It focuses on the language and skills needed for typical business communication such as presentations, negotiations, meetings, networking, correspondence, report writing, etc. It's more formal than conversational English but less formal than academic English.

Conversational English:
The most casual and informal type of English. It's the kind of English you use with friends, family, or acquaintances in everyday situations.

Academic English:
The formal type of English used in academic settings, such as universities and colleges. It's characterised by complex vocabulary, proper grammar, and a structured writing style.
